How do I write an I hate you note?
(From the Woodsman’s Notebook)
How do I write an I hate you note?
That is something I’ve never done.
How do you show disappointment and mistrust? On a piece
of paper you will ball up and thrust. How do you write a
disturbing note? When all it will do is cause tears. How
do you get people to understand, the pain inside the
man? What do you do when you are always the blame? How
do you get someone to feel the shame? How do you write
an I hate you note? Or does it go by another name?

I should have known
(From the Woodsman’s Notebook)
I guess moving to Oshkosh was my
entire fault the jobs were plenty so I thought;
I found mine was yours at home? I didn’t
understand your fear to search all alone.
I should have known from the start my sister’s
help would ever be held an accountable part.
You needed me to be there for you, but don’t you
see I needed to relax too?
I’m sorry for my insensitive side I was also
looking for another way, another guide.
I made you a promise I needed to fulfill and
didn’t see you standing still.
Waiting for me to come back to you, I look back;
what the hell did I do?
I chased windmills like Don Quixote and I didn’t
see where I was going.
When I looked you were nowhere in sight, what
did I do? What gave me the right to chase you
out of my life?
God had sent you to be my bride, and I the fool
left you on the roadside.
I should have known.
