What do you do? What have you Done?
(From The Woodsman's Notebook)

Does anyone know what a man should do when he feels as though he is placed between two walls?
When the crank is turned and the walls draw closer together,
Where do you go? What do you do?
When everything you say and do are just not enough,
Where do you go? What do you do?
When the one you love is blaming you.
You can't walk away, or can you?
You can run, but can you really hide from the bitterness and pain?
How do you duck and dodge the little communication which you have left.
What do you do?
You feel as though everything you have worked for was only put together with old bubble gum and a broken lace from an old shoe.
You come face to face with the long lasting fear of opening your heart and soul to that someone special to feel the tear.
To have your love tossed to the side as though it doesn't mater anyhow.
She calls you on the phone say's she won't be home, maybe tomorrow I don't know.
The blame is upon you, but what did you do?
What have you done to get blown away again?
Work your forty plus, come home tired, and come home beat but come home with a smile on your face never showing any sign of defeat.
For that is one of the many rules not allowed. No long days, no bad days, no days of pain especially days of rage.
Just get up in the morning with her on your mind.
Take her to work, have her join you on break even though she is not there but only there in your minds eye.
After all, it's her that you love and it's easy to carry the pain through the day.
Was it something that was said last night?
Did you even say it at all?
Is it a figment of your imagination, or did the crow really call.
Is it the honeymoon that is over or has your lifetime of dreams come to an end?
Has the dove really gone and the crow taken it's place?
I don't need to dream for myself. I don't need to care. I don't even need to carry the burden that once said we share.
