Mercedes-Benz
(From The Woodsman’s Notebook)
Spoof of Janice Joplin’s Mercedes-Benz

Oh Lord won’t you buy me a Mercedes-Benz My Friends all drive Dodges they must make a mint. The repair costs and the taxes as the gas that they spend. Oh Lord won’t you buy me a Mercedes-Benz.

Oh Lord won’t you give me a night on the town. My wife she done left me for Bozo the clown. The red hair and that makeup it sure makes me frown. Oh Lord won’t you give me a night on the town.

Oh Lord won’t you send me a color TV. They say that Bob Barker is calling on me. But it’s Dialing for Dollars is just what I need. Oh Lord won’t you send me a color TV.

Never comes the day
(From The Woodsman’s Notebook)

A warm summer breeze,
So light and so free
It comes into focus with such an eerie ease.
A warm summer rain falls across my face,
It hides the tears I’ve learned to embrace.
Why do I feel I stand alone in a crowed?
Why do I have to pretend to be so proud?
Why do I need to put others before me so?
Is it their deep down feelings I wish not to see or not to know?
Are their feelings really more important than mine?
Will mine be as important in a matter of time?
Do you know if you ever cared about me?
In my minds eyes it so hard to see.
How can I get someone like you to notice somebody like me?
My feelings they grow like an unchained melody.
Where our paths may unite in heaven one day,
I wish I knew but it’s not for me to say.
